Multi-Choice, Multi-Criteria calculation for MyDecider.
Assume your question has the three choices X,Y, and Z and three criteria A, B, and C.
And they are ranked and weighted as follows:
The actual scores are:
Choice X (3×9)+(2×7)+(1×2) or 27+14+2= a total of 43
Choice Y (1×9)+(3×7)+(3×2) or 9+21+6= a total of 36
Choice Z (2×9)+(1×7)+(2×2) or 18+7+4= a total of 29
These scores are hard to compare as raw calculations so the following analysis is performed.
The maximum score would be (9+7+2) x 3 or 54 and the minimum score would be (9+7+2) x1 or 18. The scores could range from 54 to 18 so the total range of scores is 36.
The percentile scores are calculated as follows:
Choice X (43-18)/36 or 25/36 or 69%
Choice Y (36-18)/36 or 18/36 or 50%
Choice Z (29-18)/36 or 11/36 or 31%
A perfect choice would be (54-18) or 36/36 or 100%. Thus all choices are compared as to how close they come to the “ideal” or perfect choice giving an easy way to compare results.
